For a filmmaker, or a team of filmmakers to qualify for a slot in NerdyGeek’s list of the all-time greatest, “Master Filmmakers”, who have a significant impact in cinematic history, storytelling and filmmaking techniques, (Though we have some filmmakers on the list, for example Shankar Nag, whose untimely death resulted in a short span of time in the industry, yet have left an ever-lasting impression on generations of people), displaying significant, indelible, and influential impact and contribution to the development of filmmaking and the film industry; compelling vision and ground-breaking style that has helped to define cinema as we know it today; a personal stamp that cuts across films, genres, and decades; amount of films made, and its quality; awards and accolades from peers; a consistent body of work with a number of great films, at least three unquestionably great films indicate a great filmmaker; and if they are still working, the quality and strength of recent work. Most importantly, the impact these filmmakers and their films have had on generations of people.
Filmmakers have been selected from: Bollywood (Hindi), Chinese Cinema, French Cinema, German Cinema, Hollywood (USA), Hollywood North (Canada), Hong Kong Cinema, Italian Cinema, Kollywood (Tamil), Mollywood (Malayalam), Russian Cinema, Sandalwood (Kannada), South Korean Cinema, Taiwan Cinema, Tollywood (Telugu), UK Film, and Vietnamese Cinema. Actors from other countries/industries are being added.
